The annual fair, scheduled for March 26-31, is considered as one of the most important cultural events in Europe, bringing together publishers, booksellers, teachers and librarians in book signings for the public as well as hundreds of panel discussions and conferences.This year, on the occasion of the fair’s 30th anniversary, 30 French authors are hosting 30 authors from abroad in a 1,000-square-meter pavilion that will include a bookshop, an exhibition hall and a meeting room.
The Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry announced during the week that the 250-square-meter Turkish pavilion in the fair would be home to over a dozen leading Turkish publishing houses, such as Can, Everest, İletişim, the Kaynak Group, Metis, Timaş and Yapı Kredi among others, the Anatolia news agency reported. Turkish authors who are expected to attend panel discussions, book signing events and various get-togethers with publishers and readers at the fair include Serdar Özkan, Nedim Gürsel, Sadık Yalsızuçanlar, Salih Zengin, Doğan Hızlan and Semih Gümüş, Anatolia said. Literary agencies İstanbul Copyright Office, Kalem, Anatolialit and ZNN will also attend the fair, promoting the work of the Turkish writers they represent to foreign publishers. The ministry said the organizers of the Paris fair, where around 1,100 publishers will be showcasing their publications, expected the event to attract over 160,000 visitors.
