Car crashes into bus stop: 2 dead, 6 injured

Two people died and six were injured in the western province of İzmir after a car crashed into a bus stop early Thursday morning. According to news reports, driver Anıl Erol (23) lost control of his car while heading to the Menemen district of İzmir from the city center and crashed into the Kahveler bus stop in Çiğli.
Yavuz Turhanlı (51), who was waiting for a bus, died at the scene while his son, Murat Turanlı (31), died after being transferred to a hospital. Driver Erol and Engin İşler, Mehmet Güleryüz, Yener Ediz, Seyhun Can and Eyüp Gençdal, who were all waiting at the bus stop, were injured. Doctors reported that Erol, İşler (27) and Güleryüz (32) are in serious condition.

Can (37) was treated at Ege University’s faculty of medicine while Ediz, Gençdal, Güleryüz, İşler and Erol are being treated at Karşıkaya State Hospital. News reports noted that the driver may have been illegally racing when the accident occurred.
