Karabükspor aims to maintain supremacy

19 March 2010 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL
Kardemir Karabükspor Chairman Hikmet Ferudun Tankut has said they want to maintain their high position in the Bank Asya League 1 by defeating Bucaspor on Saturday.
Karabükspor is currently at the top of the league, leading second-placed Bucaspor by eight points. Speaking to reporters during a training session at Dr. Necmettin Şeyhoğlu Stadium, Tankut said the game will take place in Buca and the team does have any injured or suspended players -- apart from 22-year-old Nigerian striker Emmanuel Chinenye Emenike, who faces automatic suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards. Noting that they are not yet guaranteed a place in the Turkcell Super League, Tankut said they will keep working with discipline. “The league’s top two teams, which are also the highest scoring teams, will meet this weekend. The game will be a hard one, but we have enough power and skill to win. It is important for us to defeat our strong opponent to guarantee getting a place in the Super League,” he said.
