Efes Pilsen, currently standing in second place in the Turkish Basketball League (TBL) after Fenerbahçe Ülker, had an easy victory in its game at İstanbul’s Ayhan Şahenk stadium over Aliağa Petkim on Sunday.
Efes kept the tempo high from the very beginning, leading 26-10 at the end of the first quarter. The İstanbul side continued the offensive with Kaya and Smith in the second quarter, leading 53-25 and then 78-48 in the third with baskets by Kasun and Shumpert before wrapping up the game 104-78 in the fourth and final quarter. Igor Rakocevic topped Efes Pilsen’s score sheet with 21 points, followed by his teammate Mario Kasun with 19 points. Banvit beat visiting Darüşşafaka Cooper Tires 86-83 in the other TBL game.
