Anadolujet to hire 2,000 workers

15 March 2010 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL
Anadolujet, the low-cost subsidiary of Turkish Airlines (THY), expects to provide jobs for 2,000 people before the end of this year, a company official announced on Sunday.

THY Regional Flights Director Sami Alan said they planned to add six new airplanes to the Anadolujet fleet in 2010, ensuring the creation of jobs for 2,000 employees, both directly and indirectly. Anadolujet carried 2.9 million passengers last year, and Alan said they expected to increase this number to 4.5 million this year and to 6.5 million in 2011.

The company official said they expected to make Ankara Esenboğa Airport the new center for transit flights, as this would ease the heavy traffic burden currently placed on İstanbul Atatürk Airport. Anadolujet currently flies to two international destinations, Lefkoşa and Damascus. Alan said they expected to launch direct flights to 10 other foreign destinations before the end of 2010.

The company serves 27 domestic destinations with a fleet of 12 aircraft.
