Jassal, accompanied by Indian Consul General in İstanbul Vanlalhuma, paid a visit to Today’s Zaman headquarters in İstanbul on Friday. The Indian ambassador stressed the need for Turkey and his country to boost bilateral relations. “There are so many areas in which Turkey and India can cooperate and work together,” said Jassal, noting that the current figure of $3 billion in annual trade volume between the two countries was too small. President Gül drew attention to the significant room for the development of bilateral relations with India while he was on a five-day visit to the country on Feb. 12.Ambassador Jassal called on Turkish businessmen to come and visit India. He said one of the areas in which businessmen would find appealing opportunities is infrastructure. “In the next four years, we are planning to invest $500 billion in our infrastructure,” Jassal said. After listing the main problems prevalent in his country, the Indian ambassador said education was strategically important in helping overcome many of those problems.
In that respect, he said he also welcomes educational investments from Turkey, too. Jassal has been the country’s ambassador to Turkey since October 2008.
