This time, Kılıçdaroğlu went to Batman. He made a statement showing that he was impressed by the state of affairs there: “They needs to be a general amnesty.” His observations were true, and indicated that he can understand the region.
This was a new, surprising and significant move that would wipe clean the negative image of the CHP in the region. However, the CHP’s status quo supporters were quick to respond. Baykal declared Kılıçdaroğlu’s words to be “wrong.” He warned Kılıçdaroğlu, saying that there would be no amnesty before terrorism ends. Eyes turned to Kılıçdaroğlu... Another disappointment... Kılıçdaroğlu groped for words and was unable to maintain his position once again. This is my suggestion to the CHP supporters who believe Kılıçdaroğlu to be a sign of hope: they should review the comparison between İsmet İnönü and Bülent Ecevit in a neutral way... Anyone who aspires to be a leader should, before everything, have the political courage to maintain his political courage. But, Kılıçdaroğlu could not even do this once.
