Announcing the company’s 2009 performance in a press conference in İstanbul, Yıldız Holding Investments and Business Development head Zeki Ziya Sözen said they are planning to sign new partnership deals with companies from abroad in 2010. The company posted a consolidated gross turnover of TL 8.8 billion while the profit from food sales amounted to TL 428 million in 2009. Yıldız expects to provide jobs for a total of 1,400 people before the end of this year. Seeking new frontiers outside the current sectors in which they operate, Yıldız plans to expand in the personal care products sector with TL 100 million in new investment.
Yıldız has recently opened a new factory in cooperation with Danish Gumlink A/S, the world’s leading supplier of chewing gum, in Çorlu in Tekirdağ, an investment of TL 200 million. The holding is also planning to establish a production facility with German Laurens Spethmann Holding in Trabzon this year.
Yıldız and its German partner had earlier established a joint venture named Milford Yıldız, a tea company. Yıldız acquired the Belgium chocolate maker Godiva in March last year.
