28 Turks in billionaires list of Forbes

Twenty-eight Turks took place in the 2010 billionaires list of US financial magazine Forbes.

Luisa Kroll, one of the editors of the magazine, said Turkish lira (TL) gained value against the USD made more Turks be included in the billionaires list.

Hüsnü Özyeğin, the owner of the FIBA Holding, is the richest Turkish person with 3 billion USD of wealth, according to the list.

Ozyegin was ranked the 316th in the list, and Mehmet Emin Karamehmet, the owner of Cukurova Holding, was at the 342nd place with 2.9 billion USD of wealth.

Below are the 28 Turks who were included in the list:

Holding a press conference in New York, Steve Forbes, the editor-in-chief of the magazine, said Turkey's economy had been better than that of the other countries in recent year.

Forbes said this economic situation raised the number of Turkish billionaires in the list.

The editor-in-chief also said Turkey could be more successful if it kept International Monetary Fund (IMF) out.

Below are the 13 Turks who took place in the 2009 Forbes list of billionaires:

Mexican telecommunication giant Carlos Slim Helu was at the top of the Forbes list with a wealth of 53.5 billion USD, Microsoft's founder US Bill Gates was the second with a 47 billion USD wealth, and US investor and businessman Warren Buffet was the third.
