One night or day, suddenly…

11 March 2010 / AHMET TAŞGETİREN BUGÜN,
An earthquake in Haiti, Chile, Elazığ… I wonder whether the 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Chile put into action another different fault line in the world. I mean is there a connection to the quake in Elazığ and the quake in Chile?
Maybe. Possibly. Ultimately, we live on the same earth, and actions cannot be considered as not affecting others’ movements. After all, the epicenter of an earthquake and the area it impacts can be tens of thousands of kilometers away. The quake in Chile may or may not have affected the earthquake in Elazığ; however, we are aware of the fact that many parts of our country are on a seismic belt. We are located on major fault lines, and it is not easy to guess when it will hit us. An earthquake is something that may hit one night, one day or suddenly. Yes, it may hit suddenly. There is no way to prevent it. We should learn a lesson from these earthquakes and take measures against them. There is no reason to endanger ourselves unnecessarily. There is no doubt that people who build a house on a fault line will have a faulty house. Bravery is not enough against an earthquake. When the ground starts to shift, you can’t prevent it. We should be well prepared for a further earthquake.
