11 March 2010 / BEJAN MATUR ZAMAN,
When I was asked for International Women’s Day to give a speech at the Şanlıurfa Bar Association and Mardin Artuklu University, I was not worried about “what I would say during the speech” because women inspire you wherever you go.
It is a natural language that cannot be understood by observing from the outside. I began my speech by stating that “women carry culture.” When compared to men, women protect culture. While men have central authority in society, women guard culture. Military service is a merciless place for men. Women’s relations with their home and family are an indicator of one thing: women’s matriarchal power. Women give birth to children and bring them up. Not using the matriarchal power of women is a waste since a society that listens to women builds only peace.
