Black Eagles host İstanbul BşB as Crocs face Kasımpaşa today

10 March 2010 / OKAN UDO BASSEY, İSTANBUL
The Black Eagles, the defending champions, host Abdullah Avcı’s İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor at the BJK İnönü Stadium in their postponed league match this evening, while struggling Kasımpaşa takes on the rampaging Bursaspor Crocs at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadium in İstanbul.
These teams are in action today because their opening games in the 2009-10 Turkcell Super League in İstanbul were postponed due to inclement weather.

With leader Galatasaray dropping valuable points at Eskişehir yesterday, the race at the top of the league is going to become tougher and tighter. If Beşiktaş and Bursaspor, as expected, win today, then Bursaspor will become the new leader. A Beşiktaş win would bring the Eagles equal on points with the Fenerbahçe Yellow Canaries and would also reduce the gap between the Eagles and Galatasaray to a meager two points. We have said it before and are saying it again now, no soccer match is ever won before it is played. Therefore it would dead wrong to declare Beşiktaş and Bursaspor winners before their respective matches.

The Kasımpaşa-Bursaspor game kicks off at 4 p.m. and the referee will be Halis Özkahya, while Yunus Yıldırım will be officiating the Beşiktaş-İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor match, which starts at 8 p.m.
