Turkish Cypriot premier meets business associations members in İstanbul

9 March 2010 / THE ANATOLIA NEWS AGENCY, İSTANBUL
Turkish Cypriot Prime Minister Derviş Eroğlu on Tuesday gathered with a group of businesspeople from Turkey's Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TÜSİAD) in İstanbul.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Eroğlu said Turkish investors in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) had made a great impact in the development of the Turkish Cypriot economy, calling for more Turkish investments there.

"And as that impact grows stronger TRNC's economy will get stronger so does our hand at the negotiations table," Eroğlu said.

Ümit Boyner, TÜSİAD's head, said on her part that the continuation of peace talks on Cyprus was important for Turkey's European Union process, adding that a political settlement on the island would also boost the economy in the northern part.
