Organized by CNR Expo Fairs and the GİJRATH Media Group, the fair opened with a fashion show presenting Escada’s newest Spring-Summer 2010 collection and included high-priced items ranging from limousines to diamond rings.
The fair’s most expensive item was a five-karat Centenaire diamond from the Brussels-based diamond firm Michielsen Manufacturing & Co., along with 20 other creations by the company. Inter Limousine, a leader in the limousine sector since 1983, brought its new luxurious long vehicles, each worth more than 300,000 euros. The company displayed 35 Mercedes and 70 other medium-class sedans to present the perks of its private transportation service.
Fashion designer Hacer Günday designed a wedding gown titled “İstanbul” that was inspired by the clothing of 10 Ottoman sultans. The unique designe was made with 250,000 meters of silver thread, with an 18-person team working on it for a full five-and-a-half months. Günday researched Ottoman archives for two months before designing the dress, which is covered with thousands of Swarovski crystals.
Another exhibitor displaying their goods was Müze Mobilya, responsible for the furniture in the Çırağan Palace, the Four Seasons Hotel and the Conrad Hotel. The firm’s founder, Hikmet Bakır, stated that it has exported its furniture to places as far as Moscow.
Ritim gifts was also at the fair, showing off its handmade goods, reworking popular household items into modern works of art. The firm sells its merchandise in more than 200 locations around Turkey, creating everything by hand in its 2,500-square-meter workshop.
