6 March 2010 / ORAL ÇALIŞLAR RADİKAL,
Nowadays some “media elites” have come forward with a mission to defend the working class and unemployed. We know the attitude these “media elites” displayed during periods of coups and memoranda. We haven’t forgotten what they did to some of the most important artists in Turkey.
We also know that their deep connections with militarists continue. After all that I have been through, I find their struggle to find a discourse that supports the oppressed by saying, “Unemployment is falling through the cracks in the midst of coup debates” truly comical. Of course, unemployment is one of Turkey’s main problems. Of course, the problems of the working class are vital and need to be urgently solved. But true leftism or reformism means defending every social segment whose rights and freedoms have been limited or violated and have been oppressed without discrimination. It means supporting civilianization and the freedom of different races. “Reforming the working class” whilst cooperating with coup supporters is the manifestation of another paradox peculiar to our country.
