Bus carrying soldiers overturns: 3 die, 30 injured

Three people were killed and 30 others were injured in an accident in the eastern province of Bitlis, the Anatolia news agency reported on Thursday. According to reports, driver Recep Şen lost control of the bus heading toward Ahlat because of the snow, causing the bus packed with soldiers to overturn on the Tatvan-Ahlat road.
Gendarmerie officers Yunus Emre Aygün (21) and Cuma Şeker (22) died at the scene of the accident and the driver died later in a hospital. The injured people were transferred to Tatvan State Hospital and Tatvan Military Hospital. Bitlis Governor Nurettin Yılmaz said the injured had been hospitalized and that their condition was good and there was no need for anxiety.

Şeker’s family was waiting for their son’s return to his hometown of Gaziantep when military officials delivered the sad news that he had died in an accident. Governor Yılmaz added that Şeker’s funeral will take place in Gaziantep and Aygün will be buried in Gümüşhane.
