The project aims to rehabilitate drug-addicted minors, including street children, and give them vocational training. Named “100 % Hayat Projesi” (100 Percent Life Project), the initiative was announced at the İTO building yesterday with a ceremony attended by İTO Board Chairman Murat Yalçıntaş and Esenler Mayor Tevfik Göksu, among others.Stating that they see people’s transformation as vital to a city’s physical transformation, Göksu said they decided to implement the project to treat these children instead of punishing or incarcerating them.
During the ceremony, a young boy, Süleyman S., gave a speech and said that he used to be a heroin addict for five years but got over it following treatment with the support of the municipality. He also called on other addicts, saying they must not feel desperate and should ask for help.
