Jazz offense in tune in high-scoring rout of Houston Rockets

1 March 2010 / TODAY’S ZAMAN WITH WIRES, İSTANBUL
No, Jerry Sloan wasn’t replaced by George Karl or Don Nelson for a night. It only seemed that way.
The Utah Jazz treated their NBA game against the Houston Rockets at Salt Lake City on Saturday night like a track meet, something that’s rarely been seen during Sloan’s tenure with the Jazz. It certainly worked, as Utah set a few offensive season-highs, including one for points, in a 133-110 victory over the Rockets.

Deron Williams led Utah’s breakneck pace, scoring 35 points on 13-for-17 shooting. He also had 13 assists and seven rebounds. Carlos Boozer, Paul Millsap and Wes Matthews each added 18 points and the Jazz made a season-best 14 3-pointers. Turkish forward Mehmet Okur had 17 points with eight rebounds and three assists for the Jazz. Kevin Martin scored 32 points for Houston.

In Miami, John Salmons scored 18 points as the Milwaukee Bucks took advantage of injured Dwyane Wade’s absence from the Miami Heat lineup with a 94-71 victory for its sixth game in a row. Turkish small forward Ersan İlyasova added six points with seven rebounds and one assist for the Bucks. Jermaine O’Neal had 14 points for Miami.

Other NBA results: New Jersey 104, Boston 96; Indiana 100, Chicago 90; Memphis 120, New York 109; Portland 110, Minnesota 91; and Golden State 95, Detroit 88.
