Following Wednesday’s tender, Limak İnşaat offered the highest bid -- $940 million -- for Uludağ Electricity Distribution A.Ş., which serves the provinces of Balıkesir, Bursa, Çanakkale and Yalova, the largest group in the tender. Çalık Enerji offered the second-highest bid for the region with $939 million. Uludağ provides electricity to some 2.28 million subscribers. Speaking to reporters following the tender, Limak’s İsmail Ergüneş said the bid amount proves investors continue to have faith in the Turkish economy. He said they would seek support through foreign loans to finance the tender.
Kolin İnşaat, a Turkish construction company, made the highest offer for Çamlıbel Electricity Distribution A.Ş., which serves Sivas, Tokat and Yozgat, with $258 million. Aksa Elektrik won the remaining two tenders for the sale of the Fırat and Van Gölü electricity distribution companies. The company offered $100.1 million for Van Gölü Electricity Distribution A.Ş., which serves Van, Bitlis, Hakkari and Muş. Aksa’s offer for Fırat Electricity Distribution A.Ş., which serves Bingöl, Elazığ, Malatya and Tunceli, amounted to $230.25 million.
Results of the tender will be sent to the Energy Market Regulatory Agency (EPDK). Following approval, the Supreme Privatization Board (ÖYK) will evaluate the offers before signing the final contracts with the winning companies.
