Lifting visas with Lebanon officially in force

11 February 2010 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL
ANKARA -- An agreement signed between Lebanon and Turkey for mutually lifting visa requirements for their nationals went into force on Wednesday after the related Cabinet decree was published in the Official Gazette on the same day.
The agreement between Lebanon and Turkey was signed in early January in a bid to boost trade, tourism and economic cooperation. Syria, Jordan and Libya abolished visa requirements for Turkish nationals in deals concluded last year. Turkey and Saudi Arabia are also discussing lifting visa requirements for diplomats and businesspeople.
