10 February 2010 / THE ANATOLIA NEWS AGENCY, ANKARA
Turkey welcomed a decision by the New Zealander government to designate PKK as a terrorist entity, foreign ministry spokesman said on Wednesday.

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key announced that four international terrorist groups have been designated as terrorist entities, including PKK, under New Zealand's Terrorism Suppression Act.

Burak Özügergin recalled that several other countries and international organization have already labeled PKK as a terrorist group.

Özügergin said such a decision has verified once again that terrorist nature of the PKK, which carried out bloody acts in Turkey and caused great   civilian loss, was understood globally.

Along with PKK, New Zealand government has designated Somalia-based Al Shabaab, Spain's Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA), and the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) of Colombia as terrorist entities.
