Akbank, which has been included in Euromoney’s Private Banking and Wealth Management Survey for the last five years, was given the title based on the value of its managed assets, profitability, number of branches, ample product portfolio and the quality of services, a written statement from the bank said on Monday.
Commenting on the award, Akbank Private Banking’s executive vice president, Fikret Onder, noting that Akbank was the first bank to open private banking branches in Turkey, said the individual and corporate customer portfolio managed by Akbank Private Banking currently exceeds $10 billion.
In addition, Garanti Bank has been voted the “best local bank in Turkey’s private banking industry” by Euromoney, the bank revealed on Monday. In a statement, Garanti said it had won the same award for the second year in a row.
Meanwhile, MasterCard has awarded Turkish banks Bank Asya, Akbank and Garanti for their successful application of the PayPass system during the past year. The banks received their awards during an awards ceremony organized by MasterCard Southeastern Europe. CarrefourSA and SmartSoft also were recognized for their contributions to the improvement of the PayPass system in the Turkish market through their cooperation with the banks.
