Gül offers former TMSF president position as advisor

10 February 2010 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, ANKARA
President Abdullah Gül has offered former Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) President Ahmet Ertürk the post of advisor to the Presidency.

Speaking in Ankara on Tuesday, Ertürk acknowledged that he had received such an offer from the president, adding, however, that he has yet to decide whether to accept the position. The former fund head said he has received several other job offers. “It has been only nine days since I left the TMSF; it is too early for me to talk business and accept a new post. I need some time to rest,” he said.

Ertürk served as TMSF president for the past six years. He had been running the fund since 2004, when it was made independent from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK). He was replaced by Şakir Ercan Gül.
