Releasing a written statement on Sunday, Ramzey said Yamaha has recently chosen Turkey as a production base for exports to African markets and had been in search of a local company to undertake manufacturing of their motorcycles. Following successful talks with the Japanese firm, Ramzey agreed to manufacture some 100,000 motorcycles with 50 cc engines for the following three years, the statement read.
As stipulated in the deal, Ramzey has already finished manufacturing the first part of the order. The company expects to manufacture a total of 40,000 motorcycles for Yamaha before end of this year. The three-year deal will earn Ramzey some TL 30 million annually. Ramzey General Coordinator Fevzi Lütfi Yalnız said in the statement that the company would invest some TL 10 million as part of the deal this year.
In a separate comment on the deal, Takahiko Goan, executive general manager of Yamaha’s overseas market development operation business unit, said his company had faith in Ramzey’s experience and quality work and expected to continue such cooperation with the Turkish manufacturer in the coming years. Underlining that Yamaha places the utmost importance on quality work and long-term partnerships, Goan thanked Ramzey for having delivered the first part of the order on time.
