The Turkish and Hungarian culture ministers have re-opened a museum in Turkey that was restored by the Hungarian government.
A ceremony was held in the western province of Tekirdağ on Monday to mark the re-opening of the Rakoczi Museum. Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Ertuğrul Günay and Hungarian Education and Culture Minister Istvan Hiller attended the ceremony.Speaking at the ceremony, Hiller said the Rakoczi Museum occupies the house where Hungarian Prince Francis II Rákóczi (1676-1735) lived out the last years of his life after fighting for his people’s liberation. Hiller said the museum was one of the cultural bridges between Turkey and Hungary.
Recalling that İstanbul and the Hungarian city of Pecs are both European Capitals of Culture in 2010, Hiller said tourism was another bridge between the two countries.
