‘Marriage of Figaro’ at Süreyya Opera House

The İstanbul State Opera will stage the first new production of the new year this weekend when it unveils its most recent take on the Mozart classic “The Marriage of Figaro” on Saturday evening at the Süreyya Opera House.
The comic opera in four acts, billed as a satirical look at aristocracy, is directed by Mehmet Ergüven and the orchestra is conducted in turns by Serdar Yalçın and Murat Kodallı. A rotating cast of Suat Arıkan, Bülent Atak and Zafer Erdaş are singing the role of Figaro in the İstanbul State Opera production.

The opera will be sung in its original Italian with electronic surtitles in Turkish. The opera is scheduled for four more performances in January, on the 19th, 22nd, 23rd and 27th. For tickets, call (216) 356 1531 (ext. 120).
