Aymar CEO Nihat Özyurt, speaking on the buyout, stated that Aymar is one of the country’s most popular oil brands, which led them to make plans to grow further. “The popularity and trust in Aymar prompted us to raise our targets. We started to make investments in order to become a comprehensive food brand in 2009,” he said, adding that Aymar plans to develop as a brand that offers all food products. Towards this end the company bought leading food companies such as Çapamarka, which markets starch, instant soup and puddings, Bozkurt Jam and Vita Margarine at the beginning of 2010.
“Our next target is to widen our product range by developing products such as jam, flour, legumes and soup, by accelerating our research and development and eventually becoming one of the three top food brands in the next five years,” he said.
Established in 1979, Aymar joined the Unilever group in 1989 and was bought by the Toros Co. Ltd. in 2003, which has been a supplier to vegetable oil producers in Turkey for many years.
