Latest regulation brings 2.62 percent rise in civil servant salaries

According to Finance Ministry data, following the latest wage regulation, civil servants will receive a hike of between TL 36 and TL 121 in their salaries, starting from this month.

Family support will be increased to TL 86 from the current TL 83.8, while child support will be increased from TL 41.9 to TL 43. Also the minimum living allowance will see an increase. According to an act implemented on Jan. 1, 2008, a civil servant married with two children receives TL 25.98 as a minimum wage allowance to ease the tax burden, which includes insurance premiums and unemployment insurance, on his or her salary. With the new regulation, the minimum living allowance is expected to increase to TL 27.34 for a civil servant married with two children.

Following the increase in salaries, a teacher who currently receives a monthly salary of TL 1,453 will receive TL 1,496, while a police officer’s salary will be increased to TL 1,988 from the current TL 1,923. The minimum salary for a doctor will also increase from TL 1,870 to TL 1,923. Salaries of civil servants under contract and civil servant pensions will also benefit from a 2.62 percent increase.
