Turkey's Environment and Forestry Minister Veysel Eroğlu said that Turkey was planning to sign 53 memoranda of understanding with Lebanon when Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited the country in July.
"We have opened many areas including airports, highways, bridges, dams, electricity generation and irrigation facilities to the private sector, and expect Lebanese businessmen to boost cooperation and efforts in these areas," Eroglu said during a working luncheon in honor of Lebanese Prime Minister Sa'ad al-Din al-Hariri in İstanbul.
Eroğlu also said Turkish and Lebanese businessmen should assess business and investment potential in each other's countries.
Lebanese Prime Minister al-Hariri arrived in Ankara on Sunday on a state visit. Turkey and Lebanon signed six agreements, including an arrangement envisaging removal of visa requirements reciprocally and agreements on areas of health, agriculture, military cooperation, transportation and education.
Al-Hariri met Turkish Premier Erdoğan, Parliament Speaker Mehmet Ali Şahin, and was received by President Abdullah Gül in Ankara.
