According to the regulation, people with disabilities are required to make up 3 percent of all employees of public institutions. However, the institutions, unable to fulfill this task in previous years due to labor quota restrictions or various other reasons, will be able to fill their disabled employment vacancies this year. Only 10,357 disabled are currently employed in public institutions, while the 3 percent quota requires 48,549 disabled to be employed. With the new regulation 38,192 vacancies are expected to be filled.
In a written statement Kavaf said employing people with disabilities is of great importance. The Disabled Persons’ Council met for the fourth time this year to focus on employment and find ways to make the employment of the disabled sustainable and efficient as well to increase the number of people with disabilities in the workforce, she said.
Currently, there are 1,813 vacancies for people with disabilities in the Ministry of Justice, 619 in the Interior Ministry, 16,256 in the Ministry of Education, 8,051 in the Ministry of Health, 780 in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, 1,638 in the Directorate of Religious Affairs, 628 in the Revenues Administration (GİB), 6,229 in the Security General Directorate, 229 in the Forestry General Directorate and 1,949 more in other public institutions.
