Size of Turkish banking sector reaches TL 803.7 billion

The size of the Turkish banking sector's assets reached 803.7 billion liras (approx. 539.3 billion USD) as of November 2009.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) said that the size of the Turkish banking sector's assets increased by 11.5 percent in November 2009 when compared to the same term in 2008.

The Turkish banking sector's profits increased by 44 percent in the first 11 months of 2009 when compared to the same term in 2008 and reached 18.7 billion liras (approx. 12.5 billion USD), the BDDK also said.
