Doğan Holding and Doğan Yayın Holding will be run by professional managers in the new era under the chairmanship of Arzuhan Doğan Yalçındağ, who will be stepping down from her position heading the Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (TÜSİAD) on Jan. 21, 2010.In a statement on Wednesday, the Doğan Group said the administrative structure of the companies will be “simplified.” In addition to this, in a move that came as a surprise to many, Ertuğrul Özkök, the long-time controversial editor-in-chief of the Hürriyet daily, on Tuesday resigned from the newspaper he has been serving for the past two decades. Özkök will be replaced by Enis Berberoğlu, the newspaper’s Ankara representative, and will continue to work for the daily as a columnist. As the editor-in-chief of the Doğan Media Group’s flagship newspaper, Özkök has been held by some as responsible for the deterioration in the group’s relations with the government.
