Speaking to the Anatolia news agency, Deniz said she regularly attends the course begun by the council three months ago, adding that the classes are very useful.
Noting that she started the course in an effort to be able to communicate better and more comfortably with her grandchildren since they use lots of modern words she does not know, Demir said, “Speaking well is not as easy a task as people think it is.” Demir also said a three-month course may not be sufficient and that she may attend the classes for three more months.
“People in every age group need such courses in order to express themselves to others and to understand others. I have learned very nice things since I came here. For example, I learned the meaning and pronunciation of the words anket [survey], aktüalite [newsreel] and performans [performance]. After, I will be able to speak well with my grandchildren and other people.”
