Yıldız, in a letter written answering the questions of Republican People’s Party (CHP) Antalya deputy Hüsnü Çöllü, stated yesterday that the state-owned energy enterprises Turkish Electricity Distribution Company (TEDAŞ), Turkish Electricity Trading and Contracting Company (TETAŞ), Electricity Generation Holding Company (EÜAŞ), Turkish Electricity Production Company (TEİAŞ), Turkish Pipeline Corporation (BOTAŞ) and Turkish Coal Enterprises (TKİ) paid TL 1.394 billion in loan interest payments between 2003 and 2009.
Speaking about the pricing schemes of state-owned energy organizations, Yıldız highlighted that their prices are set according to the cost-based pricing mechanism decided on by the Supreme Planning Board (YPK) in 2008. He noted that this mechanism took into account various costs and factors as an aggregate and that a simple increase or decrease in only one factor did not mean much for pricing. He did, however, add that the year-end financial goals of the institutions also mattered in the pricing but not by themselves.
