A moderately strong earthquake rattled the Mediterranean region and the island of Cyprus yesterday morning. No damage or injuries were reported.
İstanbul’s Boğaziçi University’s Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute announced that the earthquake, with a preliminary magnitude of 5.4, occurred on the northern part of the island at 8:06 a.m. The institute also said in a statement that the focus of the earthquake was at a depth of 39.2 kilometers. The temblor also was felt in the southern Turkish province of Antalya and its Alanya district.
