Speaking at a press conference held to announce the grand opening of the store, Best Buy Türkiye President Ruşen Kopmaz explained the motive behind the company’s decision to open its first European store in İzmir, saying İzmir has high purchasing power. “It has a young population that is interested in technology and communication and spends money on consumer technology products,” he said, adding that the decision was also made after taking into consideration various criteria such as traffic and parking.
Kopmaz cited the retailer’s main strategy as “to provide customer-oriented service.” The store not only seeks to sell consumer goods but also hopes to meet their needs and demands, Kopmaz said. Product prices will not exceed those in the rest of the market, he added. The store offers 1,500 products from more than 300 brands. “We developed the Guaranteed Package concept, according to which we accept the returns of all products sold for under TL 200 and offered under this concept within three years if they break down. Also, we offer the ‘Extra Guaranteed Package’ option to provide our customers the option of extending the regular warranty period by another three, four or five years,” he said.
With some 155,000 employees, Best Buy has stores in several international locations, including Canada, China and Mexico.
