Bulgarian police seize heroin at border

Bulgarian authorities have announced that border police seized 53 kilograms of heroin on a train entering Bulgaria from Turkey on Wednesday.
The police found the drugs hidden in 13 packages under a seat in one of the compartments. A Polish national traveling in the compartment and a train attendant were detained. Bulgaria, who joined the European Union in 2007, remains a major transit country for drug trafficking.
