In Hatay on Tuesday, a Molotov cocktail was thrown by unidentified assailants at the building housing the DTP’s city and district branch headquarters. Police officers investigated the scene and reported that the Molotov cocktail did not damage the building, since it landed short of it. Seven other Molotov cocktails were found around the building.
The DTP’s Keçiören district branch in Ankara was also attacked by unknown assailants, who fired at the office at 1 a.m. on Wednesday. Policemen arrived on the scene and found that 10 bullets had hit the building. The car used by the gunmen was found abandoned in Ankara’s Altındağ district.
Early Wednesday morning, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the DTP’s Ankara branch in Çankaya, causing a fire in the office which was extinguished by firefighters. Considerable material damage occurred in the party’s office as a result of the fire.
The police tightened security precautions around the building and launched an investigation to catch the perpetrators. More policemen were sent to the offices of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) to prevent any attacks like the ones against the DTP.
More unidentified people also attacked the DTP Ankara headquarters on Tuesday night, throwing stones at the building. The attackers were detained after the incident. Other attacks have been documented at the party’s city and district offices in İstanbul, Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep. Reports indicate that three people detained by the police for targeting DTP offices are veterans who were stationed in Turkey’s Southeast.
