FESTIVALS  The Festival on Wheels traveling film festival’s 15th edition runs until Dec. 10 in its first leg in Ankara at the Batı Theater. For a full schedule, visit www.festivalonwheels.org.
  The İstanbul International 1001 Documentary Film Festival is marking its 12th year until Dec. 11 at the French Culture Center, the Tarık Zafer Tunaya Culture Center, the Pera Museum, the Muammer Karaca Theater and the Nazım Hikmet Culture Center. For the full program, visit www.1001belgesel.net.

  The 12th İstanbul International Meeting of Cinema and History will run Dec. 11-17 at the Alkazar Theater and the French Culture Center’s movie theater.

EXHIBITIONS

   Today is the final day of this year’s Contemporary İstanbul art fair at the Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center in İstanbul’s Harbiye neighborhood.

  The Third EgeArt Art Days will offer 2,013 works of art by 213 artists at 12 art spaces in İzmir, including Ege University’s Atatürk Culture Center and the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center, from Dec. 11-15.

  “What the Coins Tell us? Symbols and Multicultural Aspects in Medieval Anatolian Coins,” featuring 180 original coins from the private collection of Kazım Taşkent, is on view at the Yapı Kredi Vedat Nedim Tör Museum in İstanbul’s Beyoğlu district until Dec. 31.

  “Site,” an exhibition of installations by Turkish-born Armenian conceptual artist Sarkis Zabunyan, runs through Jan. 10 at İstanbul Modern. The museum is closed on Mondays.

 The exhibition “Chagall: Life and Love” runs until Jan. 24 at İstanbul’s Pera Museum, featuring a 160-piece collection of drawings, prints and paintings by the 20th century master. The museum is closed on Mondays.

  An exhibition titled “10,000 Years of Iran’s Civilization and 2,000 Years of Joint Heritage” is on view through Feb. 5, 2010 at Topkapı Palace’s Imperial Stallions section, offering an exploration of Iranian culture through history.

  An exhibition titled “Osmanlı Döneminde Venedik ve İstanbul: Nam-ı Diğer Aşk” (Venice and İstanbul During the Ottoman Era: In Other Words, Love) runs until Feb. 28, 2010 at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum in İstanbul’s Emirgan district. The museum is closed on Mondays.

 A retrospective of Paris-based Turkish artist Yüksel Arslan’s work is on view at Santralİstanbul contemporary art center until March, offering more than 500 pieces by the artist.

  “Türk Resim Sanatının Bir Asırlık Öyküsü II” (A Century of Turkish Painting), a selection of paintings by 20th century Turkish artists from the private collection of Ahu and Can Has, is on display until April 30, 2010 at the Rezan Has Museum in İstanbul’s Cibali quarter. Visiting hours: 9 a.m.-7 p.m. every day.

FILM SCREENINGS

  A selection of 10 recent feature films by Italian directors as well as a number of documentaries and short films is offered at the second annual Italian Film Week in İstanbul, running through Dec. 10 at the Alkazar Theater and the Pera Museum in Beyoğlu.

 A selection of 22 films by German directors is offered in a weekly film program that runs until the end of December at the Goethe Institut in İstanbul. Admission is free of charge. Showings take place each Friday at 7 p.m.

 The İstanbul Museum of Modern Art will present a selection of Czech New Wave films from the 1960s in a program titled “Spring in Prague” at its movie theater from Dec. 17-27.

 The Ankara Cinematheque Society screens arthouse and classic films in admission-free showings every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. as part of its weekly program, which runs throughout the year at the society’s headquarters, located on Büklüm Sokak, No: 16 in Kavaklıdere.
