Institutional structuring to improve for EU funds

In order to better benefit from European Union funds, the institutional structure will be amended, a circular issued by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated yesterday.

According to the circular published in the Official Gazette yesterday, the institutional structure which was set up in 2001 will be revised in order to enable the efficient use of funds provided by the EU in accordance with the basic principles of the Framework Agreement. The institutions and individuals who will be in charge of specific tasks were determined in the circular: The minister responsible for the Treasury Undersecretariat will undertake accreditation work, the secretary general for EU affairs will undertake the role of coordinator of pre-accession assistance, the undersecretary of the treasury will also be the national authorization officer and the State Planning Organization (DPT) deputy undersecretary will undertake the role of strategic coordinator.

Erdoğan stressed the importance of coordination among the institutions and for funds to be used in line with the goal of joining the EU, for national policies during the EU accession period and for the development of the country.
