Former Turkey and Trabzonspor coach Şenol Güneş has become the new coach of the Trabzon Black Sea Storm.
Güneş inked a three-and-a-half-year contract on Monday in a ceremony attended by club chairman Sadri Şener as well as former and new executives of the club.

Güneş coached Trabzonspor in 1988-89, 1993-97 and 2004-06 before leaving for South Korea in 2007 to coach the FC Seoul team.

Güneş returned to Trabzon on Tuesday after his contract with FC Seoul ended. Last week, Trabzonspor Club Vice President Hayrettin Hacısalihoğlu and the club’s secretary-general, Hasan Yener, had gone to South Korea to make him the offer, which he readily accepted. Güneş was greeted by enthusiastic fans, who cheered “You’re the host here. Don’t leave us anymore.” In return, Güneş said: “This club belongs to us all. Fans are the future of the club. We, too, are supporters. We may be employed or not. Everyone leaves, but true fans stay.”

Güneş further indicated that they should not distinguish between hosts and guests. “We are all the same. Everyone comes here and works to be successful. The important thing is to make the club successful. There may be fluctuations from time to time, but the management, players, coaches and fans should cooperate for success. This is what we will try to do. We’ll be happy if we can contribute to success. We would like to live up to the expectations of the community. I’m glad to be with my family again,” he said.
