With many taking to the road since last Thursday to visit relatives for the Eid al-Adha holiday, car accidents have killed at least 60 people so far throughout the country, despite constant warnings telling drivers to pay attention to the road.

The death toll is feared to rise as more people are expected to return home today, the last day of Eid al-Adha. The joy of Eid al-Adha has turned to pain for some families whose vacation ended early on the road, with 60 people perishing in car accidents and 300 injured since Thursday.

In an accident on Saturday in the Central Anatolian province of Konya, three people died and two were injured when a car collided with another vehicle and overturned. On Sunday, three people died and four were injured when two cars collided in the Gölbaşı district of Adıyaman province.
