The awards ceremony took place at London’s Hilton Park Lane Hotel on Wednesday night, with the participation of high-level executives from telecommunication companies and a number of distinguished guests.
Out of the 11 finalists for the award, who included executives from French mobile brand Orange and Batelco Telecommunications, the principal telecommunications firm in Bahrain, Turkcell’s Ciliv was selected as the CEO of the year. Turkcell was a finalist in four other categories, Best Content Service, Best Device Strategy, The Green Award and Best Change-Maker.
Speaking after receiving the award, Ciliv expressed his gratitude for the award by thanking Turkcell customers, stating: “I hope that we can be seen as an example for similar accomplishments for various sectors and other Turkish firms. As Turkcell, we will provide all of our partners access to the best communications technology, and hope that this will help create more global leaders.”
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was one of the first to congratulate Ciliv, calling minutes after Ciliv received the award. Ciliv expressed his happiness about the phone call, saying, “This is one of the happiest moments of my life.”
