The match-fixing scandal is getting larger. Two Turks who were allegedly involved with a gang suspected of manipulating games to make money on betting have been detained, the German daily Bild has reported.
The German Süddeutche Zeitung daily published a list of a number of rigged soccer games. The daily claimed that a soccer game in the Turkcell Super League, Turkey’s top soccer league, between Ankaraspor and Bursaspor on April 4, 2009, was suspected of being fixed. It was claimed that Ankaraspor players received money to finish the game two goals behind in favor of Bursaspor. Bild further claimed that the Fortis Turkey Cup game between Antalyaspor and Trabzonspor is also among games being examined in the match-rigging probe.
