Galatasaray beats Beşiktaş in TBBL

In the Women’s Turkish Basketball League (TBBL) derby, Galatasaray defeated Beşiktaş Cola Turka 79-68.
The Galatasaray Lions dominated the field starting with the first quarter, rushing to the lead in the end of the quarter 25-13 thanks to Katie Douglas’ scores. Using the opponent’s ineffective attacks to its advantage, Galatasaray players managed to continue their domination in the second quarter with 52-30. Beşiktaş Cola Turka seemed to recover from its sleep with a good defense in the beginning of the second half. Thanks to Shavonte Zellous’s scores, Beşiktaş managed to gain on Galatasaray, but it was Galatasaray that finished the third quarter with 61-54. Beşiktaş continue to resist in the fourth quarter, particularly with scores from Dubravka Dacic, but Galatasaray broke Beşiktaş’s resistance with Douglas winning the match 79-68. Meanwhile, fans held up placards reading “Those who use bad language against the Beşiktaş president and administration are not true Beşiktaş fans.” Nevertheless, some Beşiktaş fans protested against Club President Yıldırım Demirören. Men’s results: Fenerbahçe Ülker 76, Pınar Karşıyaka 88; Efes Pilsen 83, Galatasaray Cafe Crown 73; Bornova Belediyesi 103, Türk Telekom 100 (OT); Aliağa Petkim 97, Beşiktaş Cola Turka 88; OYAK Renault 71, Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi 75; Erdemirspor 84, Darüşşafaka Cooper Tires 82; Banvit 92,  TOFAŞ 71 and Kepez 85, Antalya 83.
