Jennings and İlyasova lead Bucks to victory

Memphis foward Demarre Carroll (L) battles a rebound away from Milwaukee’s İlyasova.

Rookie Brandon Jennings scored 24 of his 26 points in the second half, and Milwaukee won its third straight NBA game, beating the Memphis Grizzlies 103-98 on the road on Saturday night.
Charlie Bell added 19 for Milwaukee, 7-1 in its last eight. Turkish star Ersan İlyasova finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds and Rudy Gay had 24 points and 10 rebounds for Memphis.

The Bucks have been without guard Michael Redd (strained left patella tendon), center Andrew Bogut (lower left leg strain), forward Luc Mbah a Moute (left foot sprain) and forward Joe Alexander (strained right hamstring). But being short-handed has allowed Skiles to develop his young players like Jennings and fellow rookie Jodie Meeks, along with second-year forward Ilyasova.

With Milwaukee forced to play small for most of Saturday’s game against the Grizzlies, the 6-10 and thin Ilyasova found himself playing center at times trying to guard Marc Gasol. Other times he was forced to guard hefty Zach Randolph, and athletic small forward Gay.

Other NBA results (home teams in CAPS): NY Knicks 98, NEW JERSEY 91; CLEVELAND 97, Philadelphia 91; NEW ORLEANS 96, Atlanta 88; HOUSTON 113, Sacramento 106; SAN ANTONIO 106, Washington 84; DENVER 112, Chicago 93; UTAH 10, Detroit 97 (OT) and PORTLAND 106, Minnesota 78.
