Certificate program for businesswomen kicks off

19 November 2009 / HEMRA KÖSE, İSTANBUL
Goldman Sachs, in cooperation with Özyeğin University, has launched a program for Turkish women with the entrepreneurial spirit that aims to provide opportunities to help them realize their career goals.

Titled “10,000 Women Entrepreneurs Certificate Program” and organized by Goldman Sachs in several countries around the world, the program aims to reach out to 340 women in Turkey.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday to inform the public about the project, Hüsnü Özyeğin, chairman of the board of trustees at Özyeğin University, stated that the project’s purpose is to help Turkish women improve their entrepreneurial skills and achieve higher positions in the business world. Özyeğin also expressed the belief that a woman who has sharp entrepreneurial skills and who is determined will enjoy success in the business world.

Noting that the certificate program will start in March of 2010, the rector of the university, Erhan Kurt, underlined that women who graduated from university and who have work experience will be given preference in the selection process. He also added that they will provide education to women who have a business mindset but who may not have the necessary qualifications to be competitive at the global level.

The language of instruction in Turkey for the certificate program, which has been carried out in 18 countries with a $100 million budget, is Turkish, and the deadline for applications is January. The certificate program is free, and candidates will be selected according to internationally applied criteria.

The program will include topics on marketing, strategy formulation, work plan preparation and financial resources. After completing the certificate program, the participants will be offered consulting services to use if they face difficulties in the business world.
