Hedo-less Toronto Raptors go down fighting against Denver Nuggets

Carmelo Anthony scored 32 points to lead the Denver Nuggets over the Toronto Raptors 130-112 in their NBA game in Toronto on Tuesday night
Anthony is the only player in the NBA to score at least 20 points in all of his team’s games so far. He’s topped 30 points seven times. He sat out the final quarter.

Reserve J.R. Smith finished with 29 for the Nuggets. After withstanding Smith’s seven-game suspension and a six-game trip, the Nuggets weathered a determined Raptors team that was without injured Turkish forward Hedo Türkoğlu (left hip) but didn’t trail until midway through the third quarter. Chris Bosh led Toronto with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Elsewhere in Los Angeles, Kobe Bryant showed no signs of injury as the 11-times All Star guard lit up the scoreboard for 40 points in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 106-93 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.

Bryant, who struggled with an injured leg during the Lakers’ loss to the Houston Rockets on Sunday, posted the 100th 40-point performance of his career.

“I did therapy around the clock just trying to get as healthy as I can to be productive,” Bryant told reporters after notching 40 points for the fourth time this season.

Other NBA results on Tuesday (home teams in CAPS): CLEVELAND 114, Golden State 108; Oklahoma City 100, MIAMI 87; Indiana 91, NEW JERSEY 83; NEW ORLEANS 110, LA Clippers 102; Phoenix 111, HOUSTON 105 and Chicago 101, SACRAMENTO 87.
