Defender Servet set for greener pastures

Galatasaray defender Servet Çetin
19 November 2009 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL
Galatasaray Lions star defender Servet Çetin has said he has received serious offers from a club in Europe, but will only go if the interests of Galatasaray are taken into consideration and only if chairman Adnan Polat approves of the transfer.
Çetin, speaking to Lig TV during a ceremony to launch the new GS Bonus Fan Credit Card in İstanbul on Tuesday, said: “I have said this before and am saying it again: If my club Galatasaray is going to gain from my transfer and if our chairman gives his blessing to this deal, then I am ready to go.”

Çetin was linked with French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille at the beginning of the season, and there were even reports a deal had been signed and sealed. But this was not actually the case.

Commenting on the failed deal with Marseille, Çetin admitted that he erred. “I made a mistake,” he said. “From now there will be no announcement from me or any other person until a transfer agreement has been signed, sealed and delivered,” he added.
