New Turkish ambassador in Tel Aviv visits Israeli Minister Eliezer

12 November 2009 / THE ANATOLIA NEWS AGENCY, TEL AVIV
Turkey's new ambassador to Israel, Oğuz Çelikkol, paid a courtesy visit to the Israeli Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor, Binyamin "Fuad" Ben Eliezer, on Wednesday.
In his meeting with Ambassador Çelikkol, Eliezer called on Turkey to mediate talks between Israel and Syria.

In the meeting, which was closed to press, Eliezer told the ambassador that Turkey had an important role in Israel's relations with the region. Israel could launch a peace process with Turkish mediation, between Israel and Syria as well as between Israel and the Palestinians, Eliezer stressed.

“The deep friendship between Turkey and Israel constitute the base of the strategic partnership between our two countries. Despite ups and downs, I attach great faith to the ties between Turkey and Israel,” Eliezer said.

Minister Eliezer plans to travel to Turkey with a group of businesspeople on Nov. 23 and attend the meetings of the joint economic commission between the two countries. Turkish Minister of National Defense Vecdi Gönül will head the Turkish side in the meetings.

Eliezer will participate in talks in both Ankara and İstanbul.

I hope that our visit to Turkey will boost economic and commercial ties between our two countries, Eliezer also said.
